Acting in has a number of meanings
In addiction studies - it is when an addict de-escalates their behavior by going to another extreme behavior. E.g. a sex addict may become completely abstinent for few days, compulsive overeater may have a phase of anorexia, etc.
Acting in in psychoanalysis is a term applied to acting out within the in therapy session. For example being angry with the therapist rather than talking about being angry.
