Alan E. Kazdin is the Sterling Professor of Psychology, Child Psychiatry at Yale University. He has been director of the Yale Parenting Center, Chair and Director of the Child Study Center at the Yale School of Medicine, and Director of Child Psychiatric Services at Yale-New Haven Hospital. . He was the 2008 President of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Kazdin’s work focuses primarily on child and adolescent disorders, behavior therapy, and clinical methodology, with over 800 publications including 50 books. He has been a Series Editor of books in Psychology for Yale University Press, Sage Publications, and Plenum Press. He also has been editor of various professional journals including Behavior Therapy, Psychological Assessment, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice, Current Directions in Psychological Science, and Clinical Psychological Science. He was Editor-in-Chief of the American Psychological Association’s Encyclopedia of Psychology.
Kazdin received his Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University, and his Ph. D in clinical psychology from Northwestern University. He was on the faculty of Northwestern University, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before being appointed to Yale University’s Department of Psychology and Child Study Center in 1989.
