The Boulder Conference on Graduate Education in Clinical Psychology was held in Boulder, Colorado in 1949. The conference aimed to develop a system of training and education leading to professional practice in which clinical psychologists adhere to scientific methods, procedures, and research in their day-to-day practice. It compared the M.D. versus Ph.D. used by medical providers and researchers.

The debate lead to a clear statement of the scientist–practitioner model of clinical psychology and helped lay the foundations of the postwar profession, firstly in the US and then internationally.
