Cascade processing occurs in information processing when later stages of a process are completed before earlier stages have been completed. This contrasts with discrete processing models which require full sequential completion of each stage of the process.
In humans, for example, when trying to identify a word and its meaning as each letter is presented, are inclined to guess and predict the full outcome rather than await the delivery of all the letters.
The concept was first developed by James McClelland
