Early intervention is a term applied in two senses.
- The first is early childhood intervention - in the sense of any treatment provided early in the life of children deemed to be at risk of poor outcomes.
- The second sense is any treatment applied in the early course of a condition, such as psychosis
In both circumstances the intervention is targeted in the belief that the worst of later difficulties can be ameliorated.
