Eclectic psychology is a diverse approach to the discipline in which people combine a number of theories in an attempt to provide a more flexible base for analysis of problems and the subsequent development of professional practice.
This approach may be used in the context of quite narrow areas of interest (eg emotion) or may be used to develop individual approaches to broader specialist areas (eg clinical psychology)
