Educational diagnosis is the educational assessment of students in order to establish possible cognitive, emotional, health, perceptual, social and other factors that might be impacting on their academic achievement and school adjustment. Such diagnosis can also be sought where dyslexia, learning difficulties, learning disorders or reading disabilities etc are suspected.
Generally speaking such assessment is conducted by an educational psychologist who will use a variety of educational measurement tools, such as the Woodcock Johnson Psychoeducation Battery, and a variety of data collection methods in order to establish a full profile which can then be developed in a psychological report. On the basis of this decisions can be made about educational placement and the provision of educational therapy etc.
