He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on 9th November 1898 and died in Berkley California on 13 October 1977.

He was a lifelong friend of J P Guildford.
Harry Helson was a student of Wilhelm Wundt (1832-1920) who was one of the "fathers" of modern psychology.
