The limbic cortex is that part of the cerebral cortex of the brain thought to play a role in emotion. It includes the temporal pole, insula, cingulate gyrus, retrosplenial cortex, parahippocampal gyrus and perirhinal cortex, as well as the caudal orbital and medial prefrontal regions.[1]
