Obsessions are recurrent and persistent ideas, impulses or thoughts that are experienced as distressing , intrusive or inappropriate by person having them. They can occur in "normal" life and can be managed but as they become more Ego-dystonic and troublesome they may require professional help. They often occur along with compulsions and present jointly clinically in obsessive-compulsive disorder,
