Psychology Wiki

Hi everyone, I have spent a lot of time recently cleaning up and updating the main synaesthesia wikipedia page, and stumbled onto the Psychology wiki. Since the article was tagged and in the same state as the old one, I thought that I would at least cut and paste my efforts into the Psychology wiki. Many of the links, wikification, and images do not work. In addition, I have to create a new user name each time I go from en.wiki to fr.wiki or psychology.wikia. It's a little frustrating. Has anyone discovered or developed a work-around for this? Ed 17:32, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Ed, I'ev just come back from the Wikimania20006 conference at Harvard and there people were thinking about the issues but implementation is some way off. eg one sign in to a family of wikis. I spoke with the developers of the Sistersite software, that they are hoping to get into MediaWiki, which will automatically link a page on a sistersite if they have the same name. We were thinking about extending this to reflect updates, and they may work on this. Im writing to you on your talk page about the differences between this site and WP you can see as we go into more detail it wouldnt be a matter of reflecting the same text in both places. With the professionall emphasis here to it may well be more appropriate to adopt a more scholarly identity.Dr Joe Kiff - User:Lifeartist (talk) 13:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Joe, Thanks for the kind comments about the synesthesia page. I'm just hoping it will at least make "good article" status over at the main WP site. I agree that, given that this is a more academic forum, we should take a more form different tone in the articles (and feel freer to talk about complex concepts). For now, I've removed a bit more of the wikification, and some of the things that might be somewhat secondary to researchers, like famous synesthetes, or synesthesia in the media (popular press). I've also added the images back in, and added a companion page on number-forms, the study of which date back to Galton. One project for the next few days is to write up a brief thing on the history of synesthesia research, and add it both to the main WP site, and here. I'll reply more on my talk page to structure of knowledge questions/comments. Cheers, Edhubbard 20:26, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
