The US Longitudinal Studies of Child Abuse and Neglect (LONGSCAN)is a consortium of research studies that was initiated in 1990. LONGSCAN uses a combined sample to explore critical issues in child abuse and neglect.

The goal of LONGSCAN is to follow the children and their families until the children themselves become young adults. Comprehensive assessments of children, their parents, and their teachers are scheduled to occur at child ages 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20. Maltreatment data is collected from multiple sources
